Teach your dog to open/close doors, retrieve fallen objects, open the refrigerator, push buttons, turn lights on/of, help you get dressed, assist on shopping trips, learn alert/response skills, and enhance socialization. These tasks to help persons with mobility problems, hearing difficulties, medical alerting for a medical condition, psychological assistance, or neurodevelopmental disorders are only the tip of the iceberg of things a dog can be taught to do. Train your dog to visit people with disabilities or illnesses. Watch how your dog can change their lives. You will teach your dog to not only have good manners, when s/he visits but also to perform acts of kindness that will leave a smile on their faces.
